How to get rid of Bed Bugs

There are three reasons why you should not try to get rid of bed bugs through the use of insecticides.

  1. Insecticides are not an option to get rid of bed bugs, because insecticides should never be applied to an area where you sleep.
  2. There are  non toxic bed bug products on the market that are considered EPA 25(b) Exempt and are perfectly safe to use on your mattress and sleeping areas; infact your children can sleep in the room immediately after you spray it in the room.  The non toxic 25(b) Exempt safe bed bug products, are also considered highly effective and kills bed bugs.
  3. The third reason is that bed bugs have grown an immunity to the toxic pesticides currently on the market and commonly used by pesticide companies.  Most Exterminating Companies continue to use the same pesticides “that don’t work” because it’s all they have.

The video below is especially helpful to understand the bedbug infestation problem the US which we are currently experiencing.

If you want to kill bed bugs, follow the steps below.

•Reduce clutter to make the bed bug inspection easier.
•Remove drawers from desks and dressers and inspect and clean all hiding spots.
•Personal items such as stuffed animals, soft toys, blankets should be removed from the room and stored in large garbage bags, cleaned with a vacuum cleaner, and bagged in plastic for for a couple of days sprinkled with diatomaceous earth if infestation is severe.
•Dismantle the bed frame and remove your mattress and box spring, you may expose additional bedbug hiding sites.
•Inspect the box spring and mattress. It is recommended to put your mattress and box spring in a zippered mattress encasement.
•Caulk and seal all holes where pipes and wires penetrate walls and floor, and fill cracks around baseboards and moldings.
•Wash your linen and bedding if possible in hot water. If washing is not available, sometimes heating the garments or bed linen for several minutes in a clothes dryer may work.
•Thoroughly clean the infested rooms with a good hospital grade disinfectant.  Scrub infested surfaces with a stiff brush to dislodge eggs.
•Vacuum in area of bed bug harborages with an vacuum attachment; then add diatomaceous earth along the base boards and rub it in the carpets.
•Spray baseboards and every area bed bugs are present with a bed bug spray.
•Caulk cracks and crevices in the building exterior and also repair or screen openings to exclude birds, bats, and rodents that can serve as alternate hosts for bed bugs.

Are bed bugs eating you up at night?

Are Bed Bugs Eating You Up Every Night

Hostels are Breeding Grounds for Bed Bugs

The ways to get a bed bug infestation are countless. One common way to get them is by carrying them home with you from somewhere you stayed while travelling. Hostels, while an inexpensive solution to lodging while travelling, can end up costing you big money in the long run. Because of their nature, hostels have become breeding grounds for bed bugs and a large source of bed bug distribution.

It’s important to take the proper steps to ensure you don’t bring these disgusting bugs home with you. Firstly, make sure to inspect around the room if you must stay in a hostel. The seams of the bed should be inspected for any brown specs or actual bed bugs. If the specs or bed bugs are present, we highly recommed staying somewhere else.

When returning home, make sure to inspect your luggage and clothing closely for these same signs. All clothing should be promptly washed and run through thte dryer. You can also spray your luggage with our AllStop Dead Bed Bug Contact Killing Spray. It will help to ensure you do not end up with a bed bug infestation.

We also recommend bringing a bottle of the bed bug killing spray with you while travelling. The spray gives you the extra security and bed bug killing power you need to avoid bringing bed bugs home with you.

Bats can bring Bed Bugs

It’s true. Bats can bring bed bugs into your home. It’s not the most common way to get a bed bug infestation, but does happen.

One customer writes, “We have discovered bed bugs in our bed. I have been bitten for 3yrs. All the docters said I had eczema. I saw a bug in our bed and looked it up. I am horrified. We live in the Mountains the ceiling in our home is slatted pine planks. We are currently have a Bat problem as well can they be coming from them. Our home is a very open floor plan what do you suggest please help.”

There is actually several specific species of bed bug that feeds primarily on bats. The Cimex hemipterus infests poultry and bats while the Leptocimex boutei feeds on bats and humans. The cimex pilosellus and the cimex popostrella prefer to feed solely on bats if possible.

Bats can make several entrances into your home. The most common way is through the fire place. They will nest their quite often, especially if you do not use the fire place often. If these species of bed bugs hitch a ride into your home via a bat, they will not hesitate to feed on you and your family if they are hungry and left behind without a bat host.

Don’t let Second Dwellings Infect your Home

If your second dwelling, such as a motor home, that has been infested with bed bugs it is extremely important to eliminate bed bugs as soon as possible before it grows into your own personal bed bug epedemic. A lot of people work on the road and spend large portion of their time away from home. Bringing bed bugs home from somewhere else is the number one way people get a bed bug infestation.

Lloyd S. wrote us about this very kind of problem.

Lloyd said, “I have bed bugs in a new small Motorhome that must have been used for demonstration and apparently picked up some bed bugs in the bed/sofa rear part of the vehicle….not the forward, driving section. I get a few bites ……but not in the forward part yet while I’m using the vehicle for transportation.

I also think that none have yet infested my house. I only got a few bites some days ago when I was sleeping in the motorhome bed. As soon as I discovered them in the motorhome I quit sleeping there and have no bites here in the house, or while driving the vehicle in front. So I’d like to eliminate the ones in the motorhome bed area now??”

Fortunately we were able to give Llyod the information and products he needed to eliminate bed bug from his new mobile home before his primary residence became infested with bed bugs as well. If you need help with the same kind of problem you have come to the write place. Call us at 337-937-8800 for the professional bed bug service you need.

Bed Bug is that part of a Nursery Rhyme?

I have always consider Bed Bugs to be part of a Nursery Rhyme, “Sleep Tight and don’t let the Bed Bugs bite.”  Never would I have imagined before working here that it was anything but a nursery rhyme. Now hearing customers stories they are real and can cause more damage than I ever imagined financially and emotionally. There are daily calls from persons all over the world with this problem and some have been dealing with it for a very long time. Because they thought getting rid of there furniture  or even moving would be significant enough. But it is not, they can hide behind walls and base boards, in the cracks and crevices of  furniture and floors. The  bugs can also hide in carpet  and carpet padding, furniture and pictures that are against the walls. They most common place is the mattress  some of they are microscopic that they can get into the seams and not be noticeable.  The box spring, couch, chairs, any dark warm place. And they can multiply quickly if not  caught soon an female adult can lay 1-2 eggs a day more than one hundred in a life time.

What you can do to eradicate them and take your life back. First thing is to NOT to use bombs that can only drive them further into the walls. What we offer is an non toxic formula the will kills the bugs. We first have our steam cleaner which heats up to 130 degrees which include detachable hoes and can be use on any surface or upholstery to kill bed bugs on contact. Also we have our On Contact Killing Bed Bug Spray which can be used on known areas to kill the bed bugs. We also offer Diatomaceous Earth which can be used on the carpet and cracks and crevices, mattress, box spring,  and the electrical outlets and switches. Once the bed bugs pass through the DE it breaks down its exoskeleton muscle and it eventually suffocate and die. We also offer Disposable Mattress Bags and Paravinyl Mattress Encasements to enclose the mattress after treatment to avoid a re-infestation of the mattress during the treatment. For the bites that you and your family may have we our  Healing  And Protection Spray which will help heal the bits as well as kill any bacteria.  Please visit http://www.deadbedbugs.com/ for more information.

This is a huge epidemic now and persons who travel a lot not just out of the country but anywhere must be careful to not bring anything home with you. Suggested preventative measures.  First, is before there is any infestation to enclose every mattress in your home with a plastic mattress bag. Second, if you stay at a hotel or even at friend or  family members home. Bring in only what is necessary, and whatever else that is bought in should be keep high therefore nothing can crawly into luggage or even shoes and purse. Once you come home from a trip all clothing should be brought in using a plastic bag then washed or brought to dry cleaners  immediately before bring into the home.

Please don’t not do anything thinking it will go away on its own it will not. Please visit us at   http://www.deadbedbugs.com/

What you can do to prevent Bed Bugs

What I suggest and do before and during overnight stays at a Hotel or even a stay with a friend or relative to prevent Bed Bugs is a quick inspection. You have to be safe and precautious because a Hotel will NOT allways tell you they have Bed Bugs. A  Hotel for one is trying to make money and family and friends are to embarrassed and ashamed because they have bedbugs and that is known as a dirty thing to be infested with. And that is the number one reason as to why Bed Bugs has become a HUGE epidemic because we as people refuse to talk about this.

Therefore, what I have done as a preventative is purchased some of the All Stop Dead Bed Bug products to use on trips. I always bring trash bags in my suitcase which I enclose my suite in once I get to my destination and keep the suitcase and clothing off of the floor. I  first investigate the room for signs of  Bed Bugs on the mattress and along box spring , behind head boards, and in all crack and crevices where a credit card can fit. Once I view no visible signs. I call the front desk a request  for a change of sheets and comforter and  I use the On Contact Killing Bed Bug Spray on all upholstery items including the mattress and box spring and other areas  in the room are sprayed daily while I am there. After the mattress dries I use the Diatomaceous Earth Powder lightly and rub it into the mattress and the fix the bed again. You don’t want to cause damages to property the idea is to keep you and your family from infestation.

Once I am home my suitcase is still in plastic bag. All items are removed from suitcase in the garage and then put into a plastic and brought immediately in the washer and washed with the Pura Cleen Xtreem Cleen from All Stop. I then go back out to the garage and spray down the suitcase with the On Contact Killing Bed Bug Spray and make sure I get ALL crack and crevices. I also complete my trunk and the inside of my car in the same way. With follow these simple steps because I travel a lot I have not been re-infested with Bed Bugs this should keep you from becoming INFESTED.
