Seal off your house. Pests can enter your home through various ways that are not thought of before. Cracks on doors, walls, and foundation can provide a path for pests to enter your home and cause mayhem. Do an investigation on your home to identify possible entry points for pests.

Standing water. Standing water can cause mosquito infestation. The fish pond behind your home, the puddle on the driveway and the watery basin can all be possible breeding areas for mosquito. Any water that has been sitting for a long period of time in a mosquito infested area will become a mosquito breeding ground sooner or later.

Baiting. Sometimes, your home is already infested with pests and baiting is the best measure to take in this case. You can buy pests bait at any local hardware store and follow the manufacturer’s instruction.

Borax is a great insect poison. If you have roaches in the house, sprinkle it where you know they hang out (and where you know children and/or animals won’t be playing). For ants, mix borax with sugar and sprinkle the mixture around the perimeter of your foundation. The sugar will attract the ants, and the borax will poison them.

Don’t provide food source to pests. Pests are attracted to food especially food in dirty areas. Food should always be kept in tightly sealed storage to avoid attracting pests to come by.
