Avoid Bed Bug Bites on Vacation
Bed bug bites can be of great discomfort if one is allergic to the chemical which bed bugs can inject into the skin of individuals. So, while these bugs do bite, it is actually an allergy one has to the chemical which crates itching, which in some cases, can be the most intense itching a person can experience. To this end, it is good to know how to prevent an infestation of such bugs.
A common question among people who experience such infestations is where such bugs come from. While there is no clear answer as to where these bugs generate, they often travel between doors, walls and windows of buildings landing on clothing, furniture, linens and especially mattresses and box springs. In addition, some travel through used clothing and furniture which may have shifted from location or home to another. As often hotels have infestations which are not visible to the naked eye, some individuals have been taking a cover sheet to go on top of the motel covers in order to protect one against such bites.
However, if an individual lives in a home, often one can use both sprays to prevent and sprays which can rid the home of such pests. These sprays are often available at both hardware stores and some sleep shops which sell bedding products such as linens or mattresses, box springs and the like. However, as there are both toxic and non-toxic sprays in relation to both preventing and eliminating such pests, if there are children or pets in the house, one may want to double check that the product is safe in relation to both. Therefore, if one can use a preventative spray on a regular basis, one can often stop an infestation before it begins.
Although not everyone has the same reaction once bitten, some may have no symptoms at all where others are experiencing symptoms with bumps and welts along with some of the most intense itching one has ever known. However, most such reactions are harmless in relation to long term health issues. Regardless, it is never fun to be bitten by an insect or pests. Therefore, it is good use some form of non-toxic preventative to prevent infestation and bites both now and in the future.
In addition, individuals who are allergic to the chemical which is injected by a bed bug often experience these symptoms along with bumps, welts and severe itching. As these symptoms can also relate to other skin conditions, one may want to visit a dermatologist to be sure these bites are what one is dealing with. Otherwise, one may attempt to place anti-itching gel or something that such gel may not heal.
Of course, knowing what causes such pests, is a starting point in preventing future infestations once an area has been cleared. However, this is not always as easy as it sounds, as these pests are tiny, only come out for very short periods, and love to hide. Although, one can watch for key signs in relation to how such infestation made its way into the home.
Unlike other insects and some pests, bed bugs tend to leave a lot of waste behind which can adhere to the mattress, box springs, clothing and other furniture. In most cases, this appears as discoloration to a mattress through dead bugs, shed skin, fluids and feces as well as in some cases, blood. The most effected items in this regard are usually linens and bedding as well as mattresses and box springs.
In order to know if one has such an infestation or has been bitten by such bugs, is if the body is showing signs of same through bumps, a rash, reddish skin or other skin discoloration. In addition, if one is uncertain as to the cause of such condition, one may want to talk with a dermatologist, though in some cases, doctors can not even confirm that what an individual may be infected with are such bites.
So, if one uses a preventative spray, one has a better chance of avoiding bed bug bites than do others. Still, one must be careful with regards to the toxicity levels of such spray, especially if there are children and pets in the home. For, while getting rid of bed bugs is essential to the quality of health and life, one also needs to maintain as green and as healthy a life as possible by avoiding chemicals and other such toxins which can often be used in such a spray. Last but not least, if one is bitten, one may want to have anti-itching gel on hand, as these bites can cause some of the most intense itching one can experience in a lifetime.
