An infestation can be a devastating event. Ask anyone who has had to face the challenge and they will tell you how dreadful it is. Because they hide in small spaces within walls and baseboards, the entire home needs to be examined. If you are persistent, bed bugs how to get rid of them will be a thing of the past.

Up until the twentieth century, bed bugs were a common problem. Not until recently, did they re-emerged. Due to easy transport, they have appeared again worldwide. This is from hitchhiking on bedding, luggage, clothing, furniture, and other items.

Found wherever a human lives and snoozes, their main meal is human blood. They are located within chairs, couches, and preferably mattresses. The needs to rid yourself from these insects are vital to your health since certain health problems can occur. Anemia is a problem in severe cases of infestation whereas skin infections due to scratching the affected bite are more common. They feed at night while the individual is sleeping and the bites themselves are itchy. Allergies are an issue as well.

Living with Bed Bugs

When treating the affected home, the proper procedures must be used. This will ensure complete elimination of the insect. Be sure to follow as directed.

Contrary to popular belief, these pests cannot be destroyed by lowering the thermostat in your home. Although temperatures below zero are ideal for this, the odds of that are slim to none. Besides, the temperature must be maintained for at least two weeks.

Start by cleaning out all clutter. These insects love clutter and will live in not only furniture and walls, but baseboards, in between pages of books, clothing, etc. Any old items that are unused should be thrown away. Clothes need to be bagged up and laundered.

If you live in an apartment or duplex, you need to contact your landlord and alert him of the situation. Since they travel within the building, all adjoining apartments or rooms need to be inspected. If there is a problem in another apartment, it can be treated so a re infestation does not occur.

Place all linens in a garbage bag that has been sealed. Items such as clothing, linens, and other objects that are machine wash safe should be washed in hot water. The minimum temperature is one hundred and twenty degrees Fahrenheit. If items cannot be washed, throw them in a sealed bag and place in the attic, garage, or other hot, sunny place. The dryer will work well too. Just throw them in and use high heat. All machine washable items need to be laundered using the hot cycle option.

All beds within the residence are to be taken completely apart and cleaned. This means headboards, foot boards, the mattress, and frame. Mattresses should be thrown away. If this is not within your budget, a mattress cover that is sealed will do. Wipe down the frames with rubbing alcohol and vacuum all small cracks thoroughly. If the underside of the mattress has a gauze covering, this needs to be removed and cleaned throughout.

Preventing Bed Bugs

Thorough cleaning is needed. Be sure to vacuum all carpeting and floors. Pay close attention along the edges of the flooring as well as baseboards. Carpets should be steam cleaned. Suction out all cracks, crevices and holes. Those that are present within the drywall need to be patched. Correct ripped wallpaper or bad caulking. These are natural hiding places for the insect.

Since another infestation could happen, it is best to use the services of a professional. While sprays are on the market both inside stores and online, they may not work as effectively if they are not utilized properly. A pest control technician will spray the outside of the home to ensure elimination outside as well. This is possible if bats or wild birds are common around your area. Different varieties feed on these creatures.

When going through with the elimination process, be careful not to skip any procedures. This will result in another infestation. Never use bug spray on linens or the mattress itself. Doing so may cause health problems. With this knowledge, understanding bed bugs how to get rid of them should help you along your way.

Bed bugs are more than just little pests. They are human parasites and people are their host. They spread like wildfire and are hard to root out. They are shy and hide very well. Their eggs are just about invisible and the adults can flatten down and squeeze into just about any crack to move from room to room.

You can get rid of bed bugs and we do have excellent non-toxic bed bug treatment solutions that have helped thousands of hopelessly infested households. The secret is not to stress over the infestation. Just get the products you need and get to it.

If you live in an apartment or condo with adjoining walls between bedrooms you have a real problem. You can ignore it if you want to, but you’ll be better off in the long run if you take the step to get involved with neighbors to make sure every apartment that could be infested is doing their part to fix the problem.

We get many angry calls from apartment owners asking for advice on exterminating bed bugs in several apartments in a complex. The first thing is to treat the infestation like a site-wide problem. Stop trying to cover it up and hide the fact from other tenants. No offense but that is just wrong thinking. You have to get everyone involved. Otherwise the bed bugs (who are really adept at hiding and waiting for weeks) will just migrate through the walls, baseboards, electrical circuits, plumbing, etc into other units and take hold there.

Although the classic “Sleep Tight” bedtime rhyme makes bed bugs seem cute these tiny night time creatures can bite. They are very similar to fleas and live in mattresses and cushions. There are a bunch of different species of bed bugs, each one praying on a different animal. Bed bug treatment requires patience.

Ticks, fleas and bed bugs all have the same way of feeding and can live quite a while without feeding. Bed bugs only have to feed about four times a month. They also only come out for about five minutes. We would not even notice them if it were not for the fact that they irritate skin when they bite.
If you have bed bugs you probably got them from someone else, or something that you brought into your home. A lot of people get them by buying used furniture, clothing, or visiting peoples houses who have them. There are no specific things that you can do to prevent from getting them if you are exposed to them. They are very similar to fleas in this.

How to detect bed bugs?

How you know that you are infested is the appearance of rashes, itching, black or brown spots on your mattress or linens, and possibly in the crevices of your furniture. They are hard to see and many people think they have fleas. Bed bugs are smaller than fleas.

One of the only treatments for bed bugs is to get a mattress cover for your bed. Not the kind that just covers the top of the bed but something similar to a pillow case. These covers zip all the way around the bed. They seal the bed bugs in and basically starve them. This can take anywhere from six to eighteen months.

There are some powders and sprays that you buy to get rid of bed bugs. This is an insecticide and therefore is poisonous. Some of the powders that they have can remain on the bed and some have to be wiped or vacuumed off. There are also spray insecticides. Remember that these are poisons and can be dangerous.

There are also sprays and bed bug kits that contain covers, dusts, and sprays. In order to treat the infestation treating your bed just is not enough. You will need to treat the baseboards, mattress, sheets, linens, pillows, and surrounding furniture.

Combination of treatments for bed bugs

A combination of different treatments is normally the best solution. The kits work well for this. Treat your baseboards and other infested areas, then cover your mattress, and finally make sure you dust everything with the insecticide powder. In order for the cover to completely kill bed bugs in your mattress you need to make sure that you wait at least six months before removing it.

You can pick up bed bugs from a variety of sources and once you have them they are hard to get rid of. When you are treating bed bugs make sure that you are very thorough no matter what treatment that you use. You can use any of treatments mentioned in combination with each other.

When using a cover in conjunction with an insecticide you have to be sure that you let the liquid dry before you cover it to reduce the chance of mildew. When trying to get rid of bed bugs remember to use common sense as well as the chosen treatment or treatments. Bed bug treatment is easy if you are thorough. If you have tried all of these things then it might be time to call in a pest control company.

Bed bugs have been a problem of mankind since mankind’s inception. These insects are currently however, mounting a resurgence that is likely to have quite a few households at their wit’s end. Frequent travelers can implement a few preventative measures up on their many returns to make certain that these bugs do not enter their home. With a little prudence and a bit of bed bug spray, returning sleepers can rest assured.

Bed bugs are parasitic insects that live in or nearby sleeping areas of humans, birds and select mammal. The feed on the blood of these varied hosts and use the sleeping spice as quarters for breeding and feeding. Contrary to popular opinion however, these bugs do not necessarily need a messy house in order to set up camp. A full blown infestation can take place anywhere that there is a warm host, and room to reproduce.

Bed bugs are round, tiny and they are very, very good at hiding. You can however spot them with your eye and they also leave a tell tale sign of their presence. The mattresses that are inhabited by bed bugs usually have tiny black and brown dots on the cover. This is their fecal matter as these insects usually produce this not far from where they geed.

Bed Bugs on Mattresses

If you suspect that there are bed bugs present in your sleeping area you can check under the mattress and along the side of the mattress where the ridged stitch is. They also like to hide behind picture frames that are nearby or behind the bed, as well as behind the bed frame or within any furniture that is directly beside the bed such as nightstands and dressers.

Many times, several days or weeks after an away trip some people will find that they continually wake up with small, red, itchy bites on their bodies. They cannot fathom that bed bugs could be the problem, but the likely cause of the bites are stow away travelers that hitched a ride from the sleeping quarters used on the trip. This problem however, is easily avoided when the right precautions are taken.

Individuals that sleep often in hotel rooms, motel rooms, or other places besides home run a much higher risk of getting a bed bug infestation of their own. This can be prevented however, by simply treating your luggage after long trips before you bring it back into your living area. Doing this can be quite simple and requires very little time or money.

Once you get home and before you get inside, empty your suitcase into your car. Make sure that you have the car windows rolled up and that the car is parked in direct sunlight. The greenhouse effect will cause the interior temperatures of the car to increase in heat. If you leave your items inside the car for several hours you can rest assured that any bed bugs that have stowed away in your travel bags are dead.

Before bring you actual luggage inside vacuum it thoroughly and use the hose attachment to get into all of the hard to reach place. Spray the inside of your case to make sure that no bugs are hiding in between the cover and the lining and also vacuum and spray inside of all pockets and compartments, both interior and exterior to the luggage. When you are finished, make certain to empty you vacuum canister before bringing it back in as live bed bugs can travel into you home via this method as well. These extra measures will help you keep you home free of bed bugs.

Finding an effective bed bug spray is critical for your well-being. A bed bug killer must get the job done without endangering the health of humans or pets.

Anyone who has an infestation of bed bugs will know that this is something that causes a great deal of irritation. They certainly are not a huge health risk, but no one wants to be sharing a bed with little critters who are feeding on their blood every single night. As such, if you do find yourself in this position then it will be important that you take certain steps to rid yourself of this particular problem. Therefore, here are some thoughts on how to get rid of bed bugs.

You need to make sure that you vacuum everything. Once you have determined that you actually have bedbugs it will be absolutely crucial that you take time to vacuum every last inch of the bed and the area around it. You want to make sure that you vacuum the carpet around the bed and not only the mattress and the bed frame itself. Using a small handheld vacuum cleaner to get right into the smaller areas is a good idea.

When you have vacuumed everything up it is absolutely crucial that everything that has been sucked up is got rid of immediately. If your vacuum has a bag to it then immediately detach the bag, tie it up, and throw it in the trash. If not, then empty the contents of the vacuum straight into a bin liner and carry out the same process. It is very important that no bugs are allowed to simply crawl out of the vacuum and straight back into your lovely bed.

Getting a mattress cover to put over your mattress will also be a very important thing to do. You will have a great choice of covers that you can look into and these are all made from materials such as vinyl will thick fibre which the bugs are unable to get through. You should zip up the entire mattress within one of these covers and then no bugs will be able to get into the mattress, and those that are currently within the mattress will simply be trapped and unable to get to any food source.

Getting Rid of Bed Bugs

It is also important that everything is washed. Therefore you should take all of your bedding off, take down your curtains, pick up any rugs and clothes that you have nearby and put them straight into the washing machine for a few rounds.

If you cannot fit something inside your washer then it is a good idea to pack it inside a plastic bag and leave it outside in the sun to heat up. Anything inside the bag will begin to heat up and once it gets to a heat of over 113 Fahrenheit this will cause any of the bugs inside to perish.

If you really are having a lot of trouble getting rid of all of these bugs then you might consider the idea of simply getting a professional in to do the job for you. An exterminator will have numerous different tools at their disposal and lots of different products that will help to get rid of the bugs a lot more effectively and efficiently.

All in all, if you follow certain steps you should always be able to get rid of your bedbugs.

Mattresses were not always made out of the space age materials they are today. In fact, at one point they were exclusively stuffed with organic matter like straw, leaves or even Spanish moss. Well, these things had bed bugs living in them. Luckily we also have new ways to rid our beds of these pests like bed bugs spray.

As it turns out, even though mattresses are now made of advanced materials, we still have bed bugs. In fact they can live in many places in our home, not just our beds. To this day we still use the phrase, “Don’t let the bed bugs bite” when we wish someone a good night.

What are Bed bugs?

Bed bugs are tiny insects that drink blood. They are most active at night, which is why we don’t usually see them. The most familiar to us would be the Cimex Lectularius or Common Bed Bugs, which feeds of human blood. There are other varieties that prefer animal blood. They can be found in any dark crevice in your home where they hide after they have eaten. Mattresses are dark and warm, which appeals to them and they are near you, which is their food source. Their bite is not harmful but can cause an annoying and itchy rash.

You may wonder how they get into your home and your bed. You would think that keeping a clean would keep them away. They can come in from a neighbors place if you are in an apartment that shares a wall. They can via clothing, guests, animals, used furniture or you can pick them up if you stay at an infested hotel.

There is a chance you get bed bugs and you never find out. Since some people are not allergic to the bite, unless you are or someone who sleeps in your bed is, they could go unnoticed. There is also the chance that a bed bugs bite will be misdiagnosed as some other skin irritation. Bed bugs do leave things like feces or extra and you can confirm their presence if you see these things.

There are other ways to tell if you have them. You can wait until an hour before sunrise and look around with a flashlight. This is when the like to feed. Or you can get some double-sided tape and place it on your mattress and around your bed and possibly catch them when they come out.

How to be free from bed bugs?

How does one protect themselves and get rid of any bed bugs already living in their home? Tape is one way of trapping them. Another good idea is to get a mattress cover. This way, the bed bugs are stuck without access to food and will just die. A good option is to get an exterminator but if you can’t afford one, you can purchase some good bed bugs dust or bed bugs spray that will work fine.

There are numerous choices when it comes the bed bugs spray. It is a good idea for anyone, whether they know that are infested, or not, to pick up some bed bugs spray and a good mattress cover.
