An infestation can be a devastating event. Ask anyone who has had to face the challenge and they will tell you how dreadful it is. Because they hide in small spaces within walls and baseboards, the entire home needs to be examined. If you are persistent, bed bugs how to get rid of them will be a thing of the past.

Up until the twentieth century, bed bugs were a common problem. Not until recently, did they re-emerged. Due to easy transport, they have appeared again worldwide. This is from hitchhiking on bedding, luggage, clothing, furniture, and other items.

Found wherever a human lives and snoozes, their main meal is human blood. They are located within chairs, couches, and preferably mattresses. The needs to rid yourself from these insects are vital to your health since certain health problems can occur. Anemia is a problem in severe cases of infestation whereas skin infections due to scratching the affected bite are more common. They feed at night while the individual is sleeping and the bites themselves are itchy. Allergies are an issue as well.

Living with Bed Bugs

When treating the affected home, the proper procedures must be used. This will ensure complete elimination of the insect. Be sure to follow as directed.

Contrary to popular belief, these pests cannot be destroyed by lowering the thermostat in your home. Although temperatures below zero are ideal for this, the odds of that are slim to none. Besides, the temperature must be maintained for at least two weeks.

Start by cleaning out all clutter. These insects love clutter and will live in not only furniture and walls, but baseboards, in between pages of books, clothing, etc. Any old items that are unused should be thrown away. Clothes need to be bagged up and laundered.

If you live in an apartment or duplex, you need to contact your landlord and alert him of the situation. Since they travel within the building, all adjoining apartments or rooms need to be inspected. If there is a problem in another apartment, it can be treated so a re infestation does not occur.

Place all linens in a garbage bag that has been sealed. Items such as clothing, linens, and other objects that are machine wash safe should be washed in hot water. The minimum temperature is one hundred and twenty degrees Fahrenheit. If items cannot be washed, throw them in a sealed bag and place in the attic, garage, or other hot, sunny place. The dryer will work well too. Just throw them in and use high heat. All machine washable items need to be laundered using the hot cycle option.

All beds within the residence are to be taken completely apart and cleaned. This means headboards, foot boards, the mattress, and frame. Mattresses should be thrown away. If this is not within your budget, a mattress cover that is sealed will do. Wipe down the frames with rubbing alcohol and vacuum all small cracks thoroughly. If the underside of the mattress has a gauze covering, this needs to be removed and cleaned throughout.

Preventing Bed Bugs

Thorough cleaning is needed. Be sure to vacuum all carpeting and floors. Pay close attention along the edges of the flooring as well as baseboards. Carpets should be steam cleaned. Suction out all cracks, crevices and holes. Those that are present within the drywall need to be patched. Correct ripped wallpaper or bad caulking. These are natural hiding places for the insect.

Since another infestation could happen, it is best to use the services of a professional. While sprays are on the market both inside stores and online, they may not work as effectively if they are not utilized properly. A pest control technician will spray the outside of the home to ensure elimination outside as well. This is possible if bats or wild birds are common around your area. Different varieties feed on these creatures.

When going through with the elimination process, be careful not to skip any procedures. This will result in another infestation. Never use bug spray on linens or the mattress itself. Doing so may cause health problems. With this knowledge, understanding bed bugs how to get rid of them should help you along your way.

Most people do not even think they are real. People tell us all the time to sleep tight without letting the bed bugs bite. They make bed bugs seem very common. It is because of that saying we think we have these invisible bugs. Well, guess what? Bed Bugs are real and Bed Bug Pictures are not pretty. In fact, bed bug pictures are very nasty. They are just terrible to look at.

Everybody wonders if they have bed bugs. We tend to wash our sheets a lot just to make sure we don’t. Exactly how big are these bugs? What do they look like? It turns out that bed bugs are not microscopic after all. They are in fact, big enough to see. A closer examination reveals a most ugly insect.

What are bed bugs?

Bed bugs are small little things that feed off the blood of humans! They either crawl into your bed or they can drop down on you at night while you are sleeping! They like living inside of mattresses. These bloodsucking parasites feed off of sleeping people by piercing the skin of the victim. The bed bugs actually stick a feeding tube inside the skin which allows them to draw blood for five minutes at a time. The person does not know they are being bitten. Yuck!

Their favorite time to attack in one hour before sunrise. If their sleeping victim wakes up during this time, they run and hide. They can live an entire year without feeding. They typically feed about once per week, so a person with a lot of bites really has a bad infestation. Sometimes, it can take up to 9 days before the victim notices the bites. Bed bug bites usually appear in rows or clusters. After drawing blood, the parasite will relocate to a better spot. This also happens when the host inconveniences it by moving. These itchy bites can appear anywhere on the body.

Have fun looking a bed bug pictures! These bed invaders are extremely ugly. They look just like little hairy cockroaches. There are about one hundred variations of this ugly thing. Sorry if these words are making you itchy.

Did you know that 50% of people with bed bug infestations never know it? There is good news though. These fun critters are not likely to pass diseases and they are not known to be dangerous.

Where do they come from? It is said that these friendly bedside companions originated from caves found in the Middle East. It was the European settlers that brought these hijackers to the United States. What keeps the buggers alive are travelers. Most folks unknowingly pick these guys up from hotels.

Soon, everyone may have their chance for inspecting a real bed bug colony up close. Infestations are becoming popular again lately. Changes in pesticides may be the reason for their survival.

These flat little bugs can get very fat with fresh blood and they burst easily. This makes lots of nice bloody spots on the mattress. Now we finally know why no one wants a used mattress or why the Good Will does not take them!

Cheaper Bed Bug Control Products

Silica crystal gel cat litter makes a cheap powder to kill bedbugs. You don’t need anything else. Bedbugs are easy to kill because they MUST come to your bed in order to develop and reproduce. This powder is the dirt cheapest way to kill them. Silica gel is the main ingredient of Drione. You don’t need anything except the silica gel cat litter ground to a fine fine powder. It sticks to the bed bugs and dries them up. Don’t be fooled by anyone else. You can buy a bag of silica gel cat litter, powder it and scatter it mainly on and around the bed and mattress. A bag of silica gel cat litter can treat a whole apartment building for about Can. You don’t need to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars for pesticides or an exterminator. You can however mix the silica gel powder you make with pesticides to get a better effect. I prefer propoxur because it has a residual effect for about a month. Pyrethrins break down in air in a couple of days. Powdered silica gel also kills cockroaches and many other insects. To test silica gel get one of those little packets of dessicant that says “throw away, don’t eat”. Crush it to a fine powder and put it in a container with a couple of bedbugs and they will be dead in a couple of hours(be sure some powder is on the bedbugs.) The silica gel in the packet is the same stuff as the silica gel cat litter. Don’t be deceived. Don’t tear apart your bedroom they will come to your bed. DON’T bother laundering everything or vacuuming. Don’t waste …

While one is asleep, bedbugs extract blood in a very painless fashion. During their feeding time they inject their saliva into your skin. The saliva contains anticoagulants and anesthetics. Bed bugs feed for close to five minutes and then they are done. Those five minutes of feeding could keep the bed bugs filled up for a long period of time, so even if they do not have another immediate host, they can survive. And if they cannot find a human, they would then suck the blood of a warm-blooded animal. Before the problem gets out of hand you need to find a natural bed bug killer.

It’s easy for one to confuse a mosquito bite for a bed bug bite. How does one determine a bed bug bite?

Research has said that bed bugs bite in a linear pattern of three bites, so if you have three consecutive bites on your skin then chances are you have been bitten by a bedbug. Bites from bed bugs are usually red in appearance and are either flat or raised bumps. A bite from a bedbug can show up immediately, while some bites might not show up until nine days after being bitten. In some people the bites do not show up at all. This makes it hard to determine if there is a bedbug presence in the home or not. Too many bites from a bed bug can eventually lead to one having an allergic reaction to it which may range from moderate to serious. Other symptoms of a bed bug bite are for one to go into a state of shock, get nauseated and even may start to feel sick. See bed bug bite pictures.

As far as diseases go, research has shown that bedbugs are unable to pass along diseases from one person to another. Further research though has confirmed that bedbugs can transmit Chagas disease or hepatitis B in some rare cases.

Lawrenceville, NJ (Vocus) May 20, 2010

BedBug Central, the most authoritative resource available to the public for bed bug information, has announced that registration has officially opened for their 2010 North American Bed Bug Summit in Chicago, IL. This comprehensive summit will be the educational blueprint for industries that are affected by or provide services for bed bugs.

The two-day summit titled, “BedBug University North American Summit 2010” will be held Sep. 21 and 22 at the Hyatt Rosemont. During this 48-hour period, attendees will learn actionable strategies for bed bug control, legal protection, treatment cost containment, and much more with a level of depth never before provided in a single seminar.

In addition to the wealth of information being provided, attendees will be offered an opportunity to sample beers and hors d’oeuvers from across the country during the main vendor exposition.

Phillip Cooper, President of BedBug Central, acknowledges that what makes this conference so unique is the breadth of speakers that will offer attendees an unparalleled opportunity to learn from 14 of the nation’s leading entomologists and bed bug specialists alongside the largest gathering of bed bug-industry related vendors.

“This summit really represents access to the best information available on bed bugs to date,” said Cooper. “Because we were able to gather the nation’s leading bed bug experts and vendors under one roof, this summit will provide a sophisticated level of information to a variety of industries that can be lost in smaller or less specific seminars.”

Speakers at Bed Bug University’s North American Summit 2010 include: Dr. Michael Potter, Dr. Dini Miller, Dr. Changlu Wang and Dr. Stephen Kells in addition to bed bug legal experts such as Christian Hardigree among many other renowned presenters. For additional information on the roster of speakers, visit http://www.nabedbugsummit2010.com/ .

BedBug University’s North American Summit 2010 is designed to speak to industries that are feeling the affects of the bed bug resurgence most acutely. These industries include: university housing, pest management, military housing, shelters and group homes. Through interviews with industry partners and entomologists, Cooper saw an urgent need for a national bed bug summit due to a lack of available information across the hardest hit sectors.

“We saw a need from a wide swath of industries for in-depth knowledge that they haven’t received from previous symposia,” said Cooper. “Earlier seminars were very well done, but we wanted to create a unique forum for learning that is unlike anything given in the past.”

In addition to the speakers, Cooper has assembled the largest exposition of vendors that deliver bed bug related services. Attendees will experience hands-on demonstrations and compare multiple manufacturers so that they make the most informed decisions about who they select as future service partners.

To provide a greater depth of information, the summit is broken into three hour-long seminars where attendees will receive educational information from entomologists and bed bug experts. Attendees will then view presentations from topic-related vendors and learn how to integrate the acquired knowledge into an actionable bed bug protocol or profitable business model.

Attendance is expected to reach capacity quickly. Registration for the summit begins in May 1. Early bird registration is $ 395.99 per person and regular registration is $ 449.99. For more information about the BedBug University North American Summit, to request additional information or to register, visit http://www.nabedbugsummit2010.com/ .

The bed bug is a tiny parasite that gets its name from the insects habit of making its nests in the bedding ground of warm blooded animals. The bugs sole source of food is the fresh blood of mammals and birds.

Looking for bed bug home remedies in getting rid of bed bugs is a major undertaking, but one you have no choice but to pursue should you be so unfortunate as to acquire the pests. An infestation of these creatures will leave you with minute blemishes that can add up to an infected rash or worse. You need bed bug home remedies.

The Best Bed Bug Home Remedies

There are also proactive bed bug home remedies you can take if you live in an apartment building where other tenants are experiencing bed bug problems.

Among the best bed bug home remedies to kill the invading insects is heat. One of the best weapons is a fabric steamer. Use the steamer, or even an electric kettle, to sanitize the bed frame. In the absence of a hand steamer, a wipe of full strength rubbing alcohol will do as bed bug home remedies.

Other bed bug home remedies: If you are not replacing the mattress and the box spring, they, too, will need to be steamed, or, at the least, covered in a seamless plastic wrap. Mattresses that have become infested with the insect must be disposed of and applied with bed bug home remedies, encased in plastic covers with sealed seams or steam cleaned. Again, small fabric steamers are fine as bed bug home remedies. The mattress is wrapped in plastic and returned to the bed frame after the frame itself has been cleaned with rubbing alcohol or steam or other bed bug home remedies.

Once the bed frame, box spring and mattress have been dealt with and applied with bed bug home remedies, it is time to turn your attention to the bedding. All bottom sheets, top sheets, pillow cases and pillows and whatever bedspreads, blankets, quilts, or duvets you might use need to be sanitized or subject to bed bug home remedies. This can be done rather easily. All it takes is drying the linen and bedding in hot dryer for twenty minutes. These are good bed bug home remedies.

Let us say you have done all the bed bug home remedies and you have done them right. You have steamed your mattress and wrapped it and the box spring in plastic. You have sanitized your linen in a hot dryer for more than the minimum time required. You have cleaned the bed frame with rubbing alcohol or steam or other bed bug home remedies.

For additional bed bug home remedies: Take the feet of the legs of the bed frame and place them in clean tin cans. Using double-sided tape, encircle the cans at the base. Now you are safe.

Now hearing customers’ stories they are real and can cause more damage than I ever imagined financially and emotionally. There are daily calls from persons all over the world with this problem and some have been dealing with it for a very long time because they thought getting rid of there furniture or even moving would be significant enough.

But it is not, they can hide behind walls and base boards, in the cracks and crevices of furniture and floors. The bugs can also hide in carpet and carpet padding, furniture and pictures that are against the walls. They most common place is the mattress some of they are microscopic that they can get into the seams and not be noticeable. The box spring, couch, chairs, any dark warm place. And they can multiply quickly if not caught soon an female adult can lay 1-2 eggs a day more than one hundred in a life time. These bed bug victims need a real bed bug killer.

What you can do to eradicate them and take your life back. First thing is to NOT to use bombs that can only drive them further into the walls. What we offer is an non toxic formula that will kill the bugs. We first have our steam cleaner which heats up to 130 degrees which includes a detachable hose and can be used on any surface or upholstery to kill bed bugs on contact. Also we have our On Contact Killing Bed Bug Spray which can be used on known areas to kill the bed bugs. We also offer Diatomaceous Earth which can be used on the carpet and cracks and crevices, mattress, box spring, and the electrical outlets and switches. Once the bed bugs pass through the DE it breaks down its exoskeleton muscle and it eventually suffocate and die. We also offer Disposable Mattress Bags and Paravinyl Mattress Encasements which are great bed bug covers to enclose the mattress after treatment to avoid a re-infestation of the mattress during the treatment. For the bites that you and your family may have we our Healing And Protection Spray which will help heal the bits as well as kill any bacteria.

This is a huge epidemic now and persons who travel a lot not just out of the country but anywhere must be careful to not bring anything home with you. Suggested preventative measures.

First, is before there is any infestation to enclose every mattress in your home with a plastic mattress bag.

Second, if you stay at a hotel or even at friend or family members home. Bring in only what is necessary, and whatever else that is bought in should be keep high therefore nothing can crawly into luggage or even shoes and purse. Once you come home from a trip all clothing should be brought in using a plastic bag then washed or brought to dry cleaners immediately before bring into the home.

Please don’t not do anything thinking it will go away on its own it will not.
