If you have bed bugs or want to know how to prevent them from ever visiting, then there are some great things you can do. When you learn how to kill bed bugs, it will make you feel better about your quest for terminating them. It may be challenging at first, but there will be a solution for you that will work. Bed bugs might have been brought into your home from a recent travel to a hotel room; find out how you can rid yourself of the pests.

Many people do not think about all the material that is in a bedroom or hotel room. Most will assume that bed bugs only hang out in the sheets and pillow cases on a bed. But the truth is bed bugs can be anywhere. That is why, it is important to wash everything in hot and soapy water. Even the drapes and throw carpets have to be treated.

Killing the Bed Bugs

The hot temperature of the water is what will destroy the bed bugs. If however, you cannot fit something into the washer machine and cannot have the item dry cleaned, it may have to be thrown in the garbage.

If there is carpet in the bedroom, you might want to think about either throwing it out, or having it professionally cleaned. When a steam machine is used to treat the carpet, the technician will need to know that it is bed bugs that he is treating, so that he can make special arrangements. He will ensure the water is hot and that he takes extra time going over areas that might be infested.

To get rid of bed bugs for good, you could try a bug spray. It acts to kill the bed bugs that bite you in the middle of the night. When you have sprayed your bed, you can then use a vacuum on both sides, to clean up any bed bugs residue.

When people use a plastic matrices cover, it can prevent the bed bugs from returning. That is because bed bugs cannot burrow in the bed anymore. Comforters and bedsheets should always be cleaned in hot water to kill and prevent bed bugs from returning.

After a visit to a hotel or motel, you should put everything in the wash as soon as you arrive home. That way if any bed bugs have traveled with you, they get killed in the hot water of the machine. A good cleaning routine of bed vacuuming once a week, can also keep bed bugs from attacking your bed. Bedding should also be cleaned once a week in hot water.

Research More on Killing Bed Bugs

For the ultimate ideas in how to kill bed bugs, you might want to do as much research as you can. Then find out what system works best for you and your family. Preventing bed bugs in the first place will help you not need to deal with the issue in the future.

Several companies manufacture bed bug spray for home use, offer an inexpensive method of bed bug control. As bed bug infestations are on the rise, making good use of bed bug spray can be a fantastic preventative method when exposure is an issue.

Many people believe that bed bugs are only found in unkempt homes that are filled with clutter and are overcrowded. These types of living conditions can make hard to get rid of bed bugs, but these insects will set up camp anywhere that they are able to breed and feed without disruption. This means that even you pristine living environment can play the host to a bed bug infestation.

Bed bugs come out to eat at night. The bite humans or animals and live off of the blood of their victims. Their bites can vary in appearance and be either flat or raised, but are usually red with slight swelling. These parasitic insects are great hiders and even though they can be seen with the naked eye, their flat bodies and proclivity to find good hiding spaces making them likely to be unseen.
Exposure usually happens when people spend nights away from home. Hotels, motels and hostels are common places to encounter bed bugs. The fear in exposure is not entirely about being bitten while sleeping, it is about having these parasitic insects hitch a ride home with you by jumping aboard your luggage or hiding in your laundry.

Doing this before you get home will help keep out unwanted guests.

When you get home leave everything on the exterior of the house. If it is a warm, sunny day you can leave your clothing and other items in the car. With the windows rolled up and the sun beaming directly on the windows, the temperature on the inside of the car should rise high enough to kill any bugs in your clothes within several hours.

Use your vacuum to hose out your luggage. When you have thoroughly vacuumed out your luggage spray the interior making certain to give a healthy dose inside of pockets, compartments and side pouches. These are likely hiding spots. Also make certain to empty your vacuum canister or bag before bringing it back into the house because live bed bugs may escape and cause problems.

By taking these small preventative steps you can spare yourself an infestation at home. An effective bed bugs spray can be found by searching online. This simple method of making certain that you don’t bring someone else’s critters into your home will save you tremendous amounts of future stress and money.

Locate the best choice for bed bug spray by searching online. The right bed bug treatment will have your problem gone quickly. Head online now and find out more.

Just about anyone would rather confront bed bugs in the pages of a book of nursery rhymes, rather than in the comfortable environment that is home. Having to suffer through and bed bugs infestation can mean spending paying large sums of money and having to get rid of treasured items. Having blood sucking bed bugs invade your living space can truly change your perception of where you live. Learning how to kill bed bugs before they are allowed to settle in can save you a lot of cash, stress and heartache.

When you return home from a trip suspecting that you may have been exposed to bed bugs, drop all your belongings before you go through your front door. The bed bugs that slept with you on vacation might well be nesting in your suitcase or crawling through your clothes. Bringing bed bugs into your house and allowing bed bugs to get settled in can ultimately mean having to enlist the assistance of a professional.

What are Bed Bugs?

Bed bugs are tiny parasites that actually can be seen by the naked eye. Bed bugs are result and are prone to hiding in places where bed bugs cannot be easily spotted. The will however, die when exposed to sufficiently high temperatures. This means that you can prevent them from getting into your home without spending so much as a dime. These bed bugs can be heavy on the pocket, or treating the problem can be done for free. The free methods however, generally only work when used as a preventative measure against bed bugs infestation. Once their in, save yourself a headache and call for help.

Luggage, clothing and other items can be left in a closed car to swelter. This means having the car parked directly in the sun with all of the windows up. The temperature on the inside will rapidly rise due to the greenhouse effect. Leaving these items in the car for several or more hours should help eliminate any of the nasty little, unwanted travelers.

Bed Bugs Everywhere

Giving washable items a pass through the laundry can be helpful as well, but only if done properly. Excess soap, water or bleach will not by any means kill bed bugs. Only heat. Washing your clothes with hot water is fine, but not effective. Drying your clothes thoroughly and to the point where they are painfully hot to the touch will mean that any of the bed bugs that are present are dead.

Anything that can’t be washed or left to swelter in the car should be thoroughly vacuumed. This needs to be complete outside of the house. When done vacuuming remember to either empty the vacuum canister or change the vacuum bag. Leaving this undone opens another avenue for bed bugs entry. Through your vacuum bag into an outside trash.

It can be embarrassing to have a bed bugs infestation, not to mention a huge stress once they have made themselves at home. Remember this when using heat to kill off any that might have traveled home with you. If the dryer seems as though it has run long enough, let it set for fifteen or so more minutes. Leave the luggage and clothes in the hot car for as long as possible. The more precaution early on, the fewer the headaches later.

Humans have had to cope with bed bugs since their beginnings. It is not uncommon to have been exposed to bed bugs. By learning how to kill bed bugs before they enter your home, is the only way to avoid a full-blown infestation.

The redcoats are coming; the redcoats are coming. This has nothing to do with Paul Revere’s famous midnight ride announcing the invasion of the English army. It’s a warning about the return of the pesky bed bugs, which had been eradicated in the United States in the mid 1900s.

Other names, besides redcoats, for this blood sucking pest include, mahogany flat, wall louse, crimson rambler, heavy dragoon, and chinche. Its formal name is Cimex lectularius, but most people simply call them bed bugs, since they tend to feed at night, while you are in bed.

They feed on the blood of warm blooded animals, but their favorites are humans, bats and poultry. Unlike some parasites, that are too small to see and that live within your skin, these bugs are small but visible, and they are usually on you, just long enough to get their fill of your blood, which is about five minutes.

Some people are saying that the banning of the pesticide, DDT, in the United States in 1972 is the reason for the return of this parasite. That argument does not hold up. The bugs started to reappear in the states in the mid to late ’90s. If it was DDT that was preventing them, why did it take 25 years?

More to the point, bed bugs are great are becoming resistant to pesticides, and DDT is a pesticide. Recently, a study in Africa, indicated that the main effect DDT had on them was to make them more active.

They feed on all their victims, but they only bite about half of them. Some people report a horrible itchiness, while others do not itch at all. The itch is created by an allergic reaction to the bugs saliva. These pests can live up to a year, without feeding.

A bed bug infestation can be psychologically traumatic for many people, sometimes bringing about depression. In severe and prolonged bout, it has been known to lead to refractory delusional parasitosis, where the individual thinks she is seeing and feeling them everywhere. She may become unable to function at tasks.

Bed bugs have been found in 5 star hotels and in the nicest condominiums in New York City’s upper east side. Sometimes furniture needs to be thrown out to get rid of them. That is a good reason to never buy used furniture.

Bed bug spray is a non-toxic tool to control an infestation of the creatures. A bed bug spray treatment eliminates the adults and destroys the eggs.

She can lay up to 5 eggs per day. You can see how quickly bed bugs can get out of control. You need to kill bed bugs quickly and get rid of bed bugs for good before bed bugs take over your bed, home and life!

Bed bugs have a long life span compared to some insects. Take a mosquito, which is also a blood sucking creature. The mosquito only lives between 3 – 100 days. The bed bug can live up to one full year without a blood meal. That’s over 3′xs the lifespan of a mosquito without even eating. Bed bugs are hardy, resilient insects that can take over your life if proper action is not taken.

If you have bedbugs, you are probably thinking about little else besides getting rid of them. Discovering bedbugs in any area of your house is embarrassing. Bedbugs are uncomfortable, and a huge pain to deal with. Some people choose to have a professional exterminator rid their home of bedbug infestation, but if it is not too severe, you may be able to use a home remedy. Many people have success with diatomaceous earth.

Primary Step to Eliminate Bedbugs Problem

First, you need to make sure that your problem is actually bedbugs. If you wake up in the morning with bites that look and feel like mosquito bites but are bigger and/ or more itchy, chances are you do have them. Bedbugs generally bite in a straight line. Bedbugs are not too likely to crawl inside your clothes; Bedbugs will probably just bite and exposed flesh. If you are unsure whether the bites you have are bedbug bites, a quick internet search should pull up some images or bedbug bites, and you can compare them.

If, after looking at the bites, you still want further confirmation, there are a couple of other signs. When bedbugs bite you, bedbugs become engorged with your blood. Then, if you crush them, bedbugs leave a blood spot. Check your blankets and sheets for small round blood stains of bedbugs.

During the day, the bedbugs themselves do not come out, but if you are awake at two or three in the morning, you may be able to see bedbugs. The larger bedbugs can be seen with the naked eye. If you can see them crawling, this will give you an idea of how bad the bedbug infestation may be.

If the bedbugs have gotten into your mattress, there is no way to save it. Bedbugs have burrowed into the fabric, and cannot be gotten rid of. You will need to throw the mattress away. Your clothes, sheets and blankets, however, can be treated with heat to kill the bugs. You can have them dry cleaned, or run them through a dryer on the highest heat setting. The heat should kill the bedbugs.

Getting Rid of Bedbugs

If, after getting rid of your mattress and treating your clothes and blankets, you determine that you do not need or want to hire a professional exterminator, you should take precautions to make sure that any remaining bedbugs are killed. Line the doorways of any infested rooms with Vaseline; the bedbugs cannot crawl through it, and will get stuck and die. You should also sprinkle diatomaceous earth around the affected areas, which will kill bedbugs that crawl through it.

In the future, make sure that you do not pick up mattresses or fabric furniture from the curb. You don’t know where it came from; bedbugs could have been the very reason it was discarded in the first place. When buying secondhand clothes, be sure to wash and dry them before you wear them. Be careful about sleeping in other people’s houses, and treat you clothes if you have any cause to believe that you may have been exposed to bedbugs.

Although bedbugs are difficult to deal with, you can definitely get rid of bedbugs if you know the proper methods. Bedbugs are embarrassing and troublesome, but bedbugs are not unconquerable. Good luck!

Many have been there – You find out the cold hard truth that you have a bedbugs mattress! What, oh what are you supposed to do? We know! Diatomaceous Earth is a natural remedy that you can use safely. Finally, time to kiss those bedbugs out of the mattress.

There are three reasons why you should not try to get rid of bed bugs through the use of insecticides.

Insecticides are not an option to get rid of bed bugs, because insecticides should never be applied to an area where you sleep.

There are non toxic bed bug products on the market that are considered EPA 25(b) Exempt and are perfectly safe to use on your mattress and sleeping areas; infact your children can sleep in the room immediately after you spray it in the room. The non toxic 25(b) Exempt safe bed bug products, are also considered highly effective and kills bed bugs.

The third reason is that bed bugs have grown an immunity to the toxic pesticides currently on the market and commonly used by pesticide companies. Most Exterminating Companies continue to use the same pesticides “that don’t work” because it’s all they have.

The video below is especially helpful to understand the bedbug infestation problem the US which we are currently experiencing.

If you want to kill bed bugs, follow the steps below.

•Reduce clutter to make the bed bug inspection easier.
•Remove drawers from desks and dressers and inspect and clean all hiding spots.
•Personal items such as stuffed animals, soft toys, blankets should be removed from the room and stored in large garbage bags, cleaned with a vacuum cleaner, and bagged in plastic for for a couple of days sprinkled with diatomaceous earth if infestation is severe.
•Dismantle the bed frame and remove your mattress and box spring, you may expose additional bedbug hiding sites.
•Inspect the box spring and mattress. It is recommended to put your mattress and box spring in a zippered mattress encasement.
•Caulk and seal all holes where pipes and wires penetrate walls and floor, and fill cracks around baseboards and moldings.
•Wash your linen and bedding if possible in hot water. If washing is not available, sometimes heating the garments or bed linen for several minutes in a clothes dryer may work.
•Thoroughly clean the infested rooms with a good hospital grade disinfectant. Scrub infested surfaces with a stiff brush to dislodge eggs.
•Vacuum in area of bed bug harborages with an vacuum attachment; then add diatomaceous earth along the base boards and rub it in the carpets.
•Spray baseboards and every area bed bugs are present with a bed bug spray.
•Caulk cracks and crevices in the building exterior and also repair or screen openings to exclude birds, bats, and rodents that can serve as alternate hosts for bed bugs.

Bed bugs are small reddish brown parasitic insects that feed exclusively on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded creatures. They are very small, only 5-7 mm long and with a flat body. They are a menace in places where there are many people, such as in hotels. People must learn more about these insects, as these can be potentially very harmful to human beings. Bed bug bites can cause mild to moderate allergic reactions like itching and hives.

The problem of bed bugs has existed for centuries. These parasites are known by many different names such as redcoat, heavy dragoon, and mahogany flat. The world thought that it had totally eradicated them in the last 50 years with the extensive use of pesticides but the bugs have recently come back in big numbers because of the increase in international travel. They are also tougher to kill because they can now resist the old pesticides.

The first signs of a bed bug infestation are actual bites from lying in bed. Some more warning signals are fecal and blood stains on the bed sheet, crushed bed bug corpses, and cast skin. Persons who think that they have a bed bug infestation should consult and employ an expert pest control service to thoroughly inspect the house and plan a way to eradicate the bugs.

When bugs are found to be present, a number of measures can be taken to eradicate the infestation. They can be physically removed through vacuuming. A high efficiency particulate air filtered vacuum should remove almost all bugs and their allergens.

They can also be removed by sticking tape onto them or brushing them into a container of alcohol. Excluding and then sealing off openings to their harbor sites also helps by keeping bugs isolated where they will eventually just die.

Applying extreme heat or cold on bugs is also effective because bugs die at extreme temperatures. Steam cleaners typically generate over 45 degree Celsius heat and this is enough to kill bugs that come into contact. A drawback of this method is that steam cleaners can only cover a small area. Mattresses also are hard to disinfect with this method because they tend to absorb the heat before it can get to the bugs. Commercial efforts are also underway to develop rapid freezing sprays.

Pesticides are far less effective than they were fifty years ago, when they nearly killed off the bed bug population at the time. Present bugs are nearly immune to those older pesticides. To kill off the bugs of today, a properly formulated residual chemical insecticide must be applied on all possible surfaces that bugs may crawl and reside in.

There are many other ways to deal with bed bug infestations. Since a multi-pronged approach is usually the best one to take, a pest control service really must be employed to determine the right mix of methods to be used. For prevention, individuals should look into buying or making a plastic cover for their mattresses.

In order to begin a bed bug treatment, you need to know what bed bugs look like, what they do, what their symptoms are, and how to find them. This can be tricky because bed bugs are extremely small. They are nocturnal and feed from human blood. There are a variety of different kinds and they often reside in mattresses then come out to feed right before dawn. They only feed about five minutes then go back into hiding. They can live anywhere between six months and a year without food and usually only eat once per week, making it even more difficult to spot them.

Bed bugs will burrow down in the seams in mattresses, box springs, and occasionally in the folds of blankets and sheets; however, they can live many other places as well. They are usually found in places that people sleep, such as furniture. They have also been found close to sleeping areas, such as storage boxes under the bed, carpet, and nightstands. A bed bug bite is not dangerous, but it does itch very bad and can cause skin irritations and rashes in people that are allergic.

Bed bugs are a nuisance and can be contracted in many ways. The easiest way to get bed bugs is by living in an apartment. They are often left by the people who lived in an apartment prior to you or they will crawl from one apartment to another in between the spaces in the walls, which makes it very difficult to get rid of them.

Traveling with bed bugs

Traveling and staying in hotels is another way to contract bed bugs, especially if you are traveling internationally. You can even transport bed bugs home with you if they crawl into your luggage or stay on your clothes. Buying used furniture or clothing is another common way to bring bed bugs into your home.

Once people know their house is infested with bed bugs all they want is to get rid of them. Bed bug bites are probably the easiest way to tell that you have bed bugs, and even that is difficult because the bites are so small and often resemble a rash or patch of red skin. There is nothing distinctive about them, and not all people react to them in the same way. You often will not even notice the bite for minutes or even days after you have been bitten.

One other way to catch bed bugs is to turn a flashlight on in your bed about an hour before dawn and watch you sheets for movement. This can be difficult, as they usually only come out once a week and they don’t all come out at once.

Stop bed bugs now!
