What you can do to prevent Bed Bugs
What I suggest and do before and during overnight stays at a Hotel or even a stay with a friend or relative to prevent Bed Bugs is a quick inspection. You have to be safe and precautions because a Hotel will NOT always tell you they have Bed Bugs. A Hotel for one is trying to make money and family and friends are to embarrassed and ashamed because they have bedbugs and that is known as a dirty thing to be infested with. And that is the number one reason as to why Bed Bugs has become a HUGE epidemic because we as people refuse to talk about this. A good thing to always bring with you when staying at a hotel is a bed bug cover.
Therefore, what I have done as a preventative is purchased some of the All Stop Dead Bed Bug products to use on trips. I always bring trash bags in my suitcase which I enclose my suit in once I get to my destination and keep the suitcase and clothing off of the floor. I first investigate the room for signs of Bed Bugs on the mattress and along box spring , behind head boards, and in all crack and crevices where a credit card can fit. Once I view no visible signs. I call the front desk a request for a change of sheets and comforter and I use the On Contact Killing Bed Bug Spray on all upholstery items including the mattress and box spring and other areas in the room are sprayed daily while I am there. After the mattress dries I use the Diatomaceous Earth Powder lightly and rub it into the mattress and the fix the bed again. You don’t want to cause damages to property the idea is to keep you and your family from infestation.
Once I am home my suitcase is still in plastic bag. All items are removed from suitcase in the garage and then put into a plastic bag and brought immediately in the washer and washed with the Pura Cleen Xtreem Cleen from All Stop. I then go back out to the garage and spray down the suitcase with the On Contact Killing Bed Bug Spray and make sure I get ALL crack and crevices. I also complete my trunk and the inside of my car in the same way. With follow these simple steps because I travel a lot I have not been re-infested with Bed Bugs this should keep you from becoming INFESTED.

Bed Bug Infestations in Apartments and Condos

The most challenging obstacle when trying to control Bed Bug infestations in apartment and condo units is that Bed Bugs easily spread from one unit to another. Bed Bugs sense body heat, CO2, and pheromones emitted by humans. Once a colony has reached a point where it no longer has a food source that can sustain it, break away bugs migrate to the next unit through the walls and unsealed bottom plates, attracted by other sources of food in the adjacent unit.
We have had landlords and managers report that tenants will take infested, discarded mattresses and furniture from dumpsters and alleys back to their units, not even suspecting they are bringing the problem back to their building and spreading the infestation! They are looking for a true bed bug killer.
Clearly the problem is complex; especially if you live in a multi unit building. What has become very clear after over 125,000 treatments is Bed Bug infestations are everyone’s problem, and everyone must be part of the solution in order control this Bed Bug epidemic that is sweeping the country.
