There are male and female bed bugs. It is required they mate before a female can lay eggs.

Because bed bugs like to hide in dark damp places with little to no movement you will not find them hiding in the fur of animals.

Is it common to bring home bed bugs?

It is quite common to bring home bed bugs. You can bring them home from traveling and it is also common to bring them home with you in used furniture as well.

What does a bed bug look like?

Adult bed bugs are straw-colored to reddish brown, wingless insects. Prior to feeding, they are approximately 1/4″ to 3/8″ long and nearly as flat as a piece of paper. Once they feed they become bloated and dark red.
